Feeling Ill

November 25, 2025

Last Sunday I was invited to go to the casino to have some lunch, amongst some other housemates, and I went. I have never been to a casino after all, so that was exciting! The drive was short, and the casino was the first floor of the resort. It wasn't huge, but it had a lot of games to choose from. On a Sunday afternoon, you cannot expect there to be that many people. Only older folks were playing on the slots. They seemed to be locked in, mesmerized, fully immersed to a flashing screen that was simply an app running on Windows OS. (One of the screens malfunctioned, and was on the Windows home screen. How funny.)

The day went well, and I lost all of my money. $20! Oh well. When we returned home shortly after, I began to feel very weak. Not sure why, but I felt as if I lost all of my energy. I laid down, and wasn't feeling well. That was the start of an awful and annoying sickness. I had fevers Monday to Wednesday nights, but I continued to work. I continued to chase that bag. Needless to say, doing so made my illness far worse. On Wednesday night, I had to go to the ER because my fever was too high. I didn't know anything about insurance here, so I first took an uber to a hospital, and I wasn't sure if they would have accepted me, so I went to a clinic that said accepted my insurance. Sadly, that was a lie and the insurance app was out of date. So, I waited for my mom to pick me up, and we went to a hospital a bit far from where I was.

I was cared for, but it took a while to leave. I had an IV and took 1g of Tylenol. That was it, but it took a while because my heartbeat was still too fast. The nurse said I might be dehydrated hence why they applied it. Now, the doctor told me otherwise, but frankly, I believe the nurse because, truthfully, I was not drinking a lot of water. I was simply not taking care of myself. My body showed the signs, clear as day, on that Sunday evening, and yet, I refused to listen. Typical me. I went to work on Tuesday because I felt a little better.

Then it hits me. I have too much pride.
